Skillful 42 year old Andy Oh, the Executive Chef of five-star tropical resort and spa -Parkroyal Penang, Malaysia, a true professional in the culinary industry, is an expert in all types of cuisine preparation.

Penang-born Andy who’s a friendly character by nature specializes in mainly Western, Nyonya, Oriental, Japanese, Fusion and Malay cuisine.  With great interest and passion for food and art of cooking, Chef Andy has climbed to the executive level from a kitchen helper position some 23 years ago, and his knowledge in cooking and food presentation was experience gained from international cooking level exposure in Korea, New Zealand, India, Switzerland and Singapore.

During his term in the culinary field from 1986 to 2006, he has bagged numerous awards, medals and recognitions from competitions and promotions namely the Penang International Salon Gastronomique, National Culinary Competition in Kuala Lumpur and South Africa World Cooks Tour for Hunger. This year, he led two Junior Chefs’ teams from the Chefs’ Association to compete in the Junior Asian Chefs’ Challenge held in Jakarta, Indonesia and brought home one Silver and one Bronze medal. In March, he also led the Parkroyal Chefs’ team for the 12th Penang International Salon Gastronomique or better known as Battle of the Chefs Competition and managed to bag 11 medals comprising of two gold medals, 5 silver medals, 4 bronze medals and one Diploma.

Chef Andy previously headed the Chefs’ Association of Malaysia, Penang Chapter as their Chairman for two consecutive years, and he was also the Organizing Chairman for the 10th Penang International Salon Gastronomique cooking competition which was held in 2005 at Parkroyal Penang. He now serves the Association as their Honorary Advisor. With his vast expertise, he was proud to serve and lead the association in culinary competitions and other exclusive chefs’ events. Andy, being active in various food and cooking events, locally and internationally, his interest in striving for more culinary creations to serve customers better remains his lifetime motto.
Not only is he good in the kitchen, Chef Andy also enjoys outdoor sports such as tennis, football and badminton. He had previously won the men’s doubles trophy during the Penang Travel Trade Tennis Tournament organised by MATTA.
